IGTAP speedrun basics
Quick answer
IGTAP is quietly one of the best speedrun games on Steam right now — courses are short, resets are instant, and the tech ceiling keeps climbing. Here's how the scene is organized and how to start.
The main categories
- Any% — all five demo courses back to back, fastest finish wins. The go-to category.
- Individual levels (IL) — one course, one leaderboard; the friendliest entry point.
- Glitchless / all-glitches — full-run variants that toggle whether tech like savewarps and wrong-collision tricks are allowed.
- Demo 100% — every course, every hidden upgrade; the endurance test.
Benchmark times (demo era)
| Run | Time | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Demo any%, early | 27:06 | First widely-shared completion |
| Demo any%, optimized | ~15:39 | Where steady practice lands |
| Demo 100% glitchless | 1:32:53 | Full collect |
| Level 1 IL | 1.42 | Glitched; clean route sits near 2s |
Times above are from the demo build and will shift on launch — treat them as targets, not records.
How to start
- Pick an IL, not any%. Grinding Level 1 to a clean sub-3 beats a messy full run for learning.
- Learn the route backwards. Watch a record run, pause at each big jump, and match the timing — most "tech" is just these three inputs: dash, jump, dash-again.
- Practice resets. The fastest runners reset constantly; the skill is knowing when a run is dead.
- Record yourself. In a game where milliseconds matter, comparing your line to a record's line is faster than guessing.
Where the scene lives
The community posts runs and routes on speedrun.com/IGTAP, trades tech clips on the r/IGTAP subreddit, and organizes in the official Discord. The demo's B-sides and C-side rooms are where the hardest currently-known routes live.
